Peer Support For Those Diagnosed & Their Care Partners

Empowering People to Live Graciously Along Side Dementia

The challenges of living with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia can sever social connections at a time when they are needed most. Gatherings at Memory Cafe's are one way people dealing with cognitive impairment along with their care partners can come together to develop new friendships and support.

Lori La Bey & ACR Homes Launched Arthur's Memory Cafe
The First Memory Cafe In The U.S. On Oct. 26th, 2011

The concept of Memory Cafe's started as an Alzheimer Cafe in the Netherlands in 1997. It was so successful there, it was adapted by other countries like England, Belgium, France, Sweden, Indonesia, and the United States. As countries embraced the Alzheimer's Cafe concept, communities started to make changes to meet their members needs. Most café’s now go by the name of Memory Cafe to be more inviting and inclusive to the various types of dementia people are living with.
