The film is an intimate portrait of a family coming to grips with the realities of early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. When John Wynn is diagnosed with the disease at the relatively young age of 57, his son, Chris, decides to chronicle his family’s journey to John’s final days. An honest, moving and at times heartbreaking film, Forgetful Not Forgotten weaves past and present to both celebrate the man who was and mourn his painfully slow and steady disappearance.

Forgetful Not Forgotten walks us through Chris and his family’s experiences as they are forced to recreate themselves over the course of John’s disease changing from a wife and children to increasingly challenged caregivers. Chris also takes us inside the medical world of Alzheimer’s diagnostics and prevention as he tends to his own concerns about this potentially hereditary disease, and the ramifications for his own future. If nothing else, Forgetful Not Forgotten teaches us an extremely important lesson as we watch a family give so much of themselves to a loved one losing a little more of himself every day: we learn that life is not only about holding on to what we love, but knowing when, and of what, to let go.

The website is an innovative marriage of documentary and New Media that extends Chris’ journey and responds in a media rich environment to caregivers’ needs. “Forgetful Not Forgotten: The Website” is a much needed online community that for the first time brings caregivers and their families together on a site specifically designed for them. The site is an inviting and comforting place for caregivers to meet, share and exchange, and it is a powerful and comprehensive single-source of information for time-challenged caregivers.
The website is comprised of 4 main modules: The Film; Caring; Living; Sharing. Each section has a place to connect with others and to voice your opinion. You can create your own members page and post photos and create a blog. We have many videos including some short documentaries about others with the disease, as well as over fifteen experts answering questions about the specifics of the disease, all the answers are given in a two minute video response. There are also discussion boards and many other helpful articles and links to help you get the information you need.
Thanks for any other excellent post. The place else may anyone get that kind of information in such an ideal approach of writing? I’ve a presentation subsequent week, and I’m on the search for such info.
