Walker Art Center Offers Contemporary Journeys

for People with Alzheimer’s & Dementia

The Walker Art Center is now offering a recurring monthly session of Contemporary Journeys for which people may pre-register. (Contemporary Journeys is our arts programming for people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.) In the past they have asked people to form their own groups and select their own dates/times for visiting; but they realize there are some individuals interested in the program who don’t have the resources to or interest in recruiting their own groups, so they are excited to offer this alternative. Below is more information on the program.

Contemporary Journeys Morning at the Walker Art Center
Contemporary art becomes the catalyst for community building, self-expression, and appreciating the present in this program designed for individuals with early- to middle-stage Alzheimer’s and other dementias, their care partners, family, and friends. Each month the program alternates between gallery tours and hands-on art-making (Art Labs).

The topics for the art labs vary monthly. Each lab is designed specifically for Contemporary Journeys participants and uses a variety of materials and approaches to art-making. No experience necessary!
Time
Tours and art labs all begin at 10 am and last approximately an hour and a half.
Registration
Pre-registration is required. To register an individual with memory loss and a care partner, family member, or friend, e-mail education.resources@walkerart.org or call 612.375.7609. Please register at least one week in advance of the program date.
Cost
Per-person tour fee: $10/adult, $8/senior (65+). Care partners and additional family and friends are free.
Per-person art lab fee: $5/adults and seniors (65+). Care partners and additional family and friends are free.
Assisted listening devices and wheel chairs available upon request. Gallery stools are always available for tours.
