Lori La Bey talks with Sam Simon and his wife, Susan, who is his Care Partner, or what they like to call his Cognitive Navigator.

Samuel A. Simon is the author, playwright, and performer of the one-man play, Dementia Man: An Existential Journey. Earlier in his life, he was a national figure in the American consumer movement, as one of the first lawyers for Ralph Nader, and made many media appearances, including Face the Nation, The Phil Donahue Show, all major TV network news shows, and The Oprah Winfrey Show. He and his wife Susan live in McLean, Virginia; they have two children and four grandchildren.

Susan M. Simon, Sam’s wife for almost 60 years, now serves as his Cognitive Navigator, assisting as he performs Dementia Man. After retiring as an elementary school counselor, Susan worked as the director of Marketing and Admissions for a Senior Living facility.
