HealthStar Home Health will return to the MN State Fair to help raise Alzheimer’s and dementia awareness by providing FREE memory screenings at its booth daily from 9 AM to 6 PM. As an official sponsor of the new film to be released on opening day in Minneapolis, HealthStar will be sponsoring an autograph signing of cast members including lead actor, Daniel Roebuck, at its booth from 10 AM to 12 PM, Sunday, August 30, 2015.
This new movie about Alzheimer’s, “His Neighbor Phil”, was filmed in the small community of Zumbrota, Minnesota. Packed full of star power the film is the story of Harvey, a man whose wife (Mary) has early onset Alzheimer’s disease. The film shows the effects of the disease not only on Mary but also the entire family and their community. While the film deals honestly with the realities of the disease, it focuses most of its attention on the tireless work of the caregivers.
The film stars nationally-known actors Stephanie Zimbalist (Remington Steele), Daniel Roebuck (The Fugitive, Lost, Glee), Ellen Dolan (As the World Turns), Oscar nominee Sally Kellerman (M*A*S*H) and Nashville recording artist Ashlee Hewitt (Elle: A Modern Cinderella Story).

The need for further research and education is ongoing. After seeing “His Neighbor Phil”, some “not so familiar” film producers decided to step up to the plate to lend their support in an effort to get this movie to the public.
“His Neighbor Phil” and My Town Pictures announces several new Executive Producers: SYNERGY HomeCare, HealthStar Home Health, Alzheimer’s Speaks, The Lutheran Home Association and Saint Therese, along with five additional sponsors that plan to help carry the film to people who most need its message.
Healthcare experts weigh in on “His Neighbor Phil”:
“This moving film shows the need for family and friends to rally together to help each other deal with Alzheimer’s disease, motivates our researchers to continue to develop promising treatments and methods of prevention and emphasizes the necessity to support research at centers such as ours.” – William H. Frey II, Ph.D., Alzheimer’s Research Director, HealthPartners Center for Memory & Aging
“His Neighbor Phil is a love story wrapped up in the complexity of a disease that shows no mercy. It’s real. It’s raw and yet through all of the trials and tribulations, it provides hope.” – Josie Di Chiara, Senior Vice President, Alzheimer’s Foundation of America
“His Neighbor Phil, is indeed a great film and right on the money for accuracy in typical ‘key players’ and behaviors, reactions, approaches, beliefs, and common concerns regarding dementia. I am sure ‘first timers’ as well as those who have made their journey will resonate with the film allowing new conversations to happen, awareness to grow, and belief that we can CHOOSE to make a positive difference in how people living with dementia are able to live their lives.” – Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA Dementia Care & Training Specialist
