Norrms Mc Namara is the founder of the Purple Angel dementia movement now recognized in many countries around the world and soon to launch in South Asia this summer.
Norrms is a prolific writer and shares his work via books, but also on social media to help educate, remove stigmas and give hope to those diagnosed, their families as well as professionals. Norrms has had a huge influence on shifting dementia care around the world. He has helped get MP3 players into the hands of those in need for FREE, been a major force in expanding the Memory Café movement and the World Rocks Against Dementia WRAD globally.

Rev. Katie Norris has been a Montessori dementia care specialist for 14 years and is an AMI Montessori for Aging and Dementia Practitioner. Vicki de Klerk-Rubin is the Executive Director of the Validation Training Institute
Vicki de Klerk-Rubin is the Executive Director of the Validation Training Institute and a certified Validation Master Teacher. She is the author of Validation Techniques for Dementia Care and Validation for First Responders. Together with her mother Naomi Feil, the founder of the Validation method, she co-authored the revisions of Validation: The Feil Method and The Validation Breakthrough. Ms. de Klerk-Rubin holds a BFA from Boston University, an MBA from Fordham University, and is a Dutch-trained registered nurse. Since 1989, Ms. de Klerk-Rubin has given Validation workshops, lectures and training programs around the world.

Dr. Jennifer Bute, Living with Dementia, International Advocate
Dr Jennifer Bute worked in Africa as a doctor before working as a GP for 25 years involved in medical education. And was an honorary lecturer at Southampton University, She had to take early retirement when diagnosed with dementia but continues to use her skills She speaks at conferences, on radio, and has been spoken on International radio and appeared on UK television programs raising awareness and understanding of dementia. She passionately believes more can be done to improve both the present and the future for those living with dementia. Her book ‘Dementia from the Inside A Doctor’s Personal Journey of Hope’ is her story and explains these principles. Jennifer is well educated and has her MB BS, D ObstRCOG, Dip HPE, and FRCGP. She lives with dementia, has family members with the condition, and has lived for 14 years amongst others with dementia so knows what works and what does not!

Mary Underwood, Dementia Care Specialist. Founder of Empowermentia
Mary Underwood is a social worker who has been in the field of memory care for over 35 years. She has worked in a variety of settings including home care, adult day programs, assisted living and nursing homes. Over the years, she has developed innovative programs and training sessions. She has received local and national awards for her in the field. In addition, Mary’s family was personally impacted by dementia when her dad was diagnosed in 2015.

Laurie Scherrer – International Advocate, DAA Executive Board Member and Programs Director
Laurie Scherrer was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s & FTD at the age of 55. Unable to continue a professional career she turned her focus towards helping others through their dementia journey. Laurie serves on the Dementia Action Alliance Board of Directors. She is an international speaker and has been featured in many articles and documentaries.
On her website, dementiadaze.com Laurie shares her feelings, challenges, symptoms and adjustments in hopes of encouraging other Persons with Dementia and care partners to explore ways to live beyond dementia. Together with her husband Roy, they work hard trying to identify the obstacles that trigger Laurie’s challenges and symptoms and then figure out what adjustments they can make to overcome the barriers. “We don’t automatically accept that I CAN’T do things anymore, instead we try to figure out HOW I CAN.”
