Our Host, Lori La Bey will be talking with representatives of Dementia Action Alliance, known as DAA, about their upcoming conference being held September 19-21, 2022, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Union Station in Downtown Indianapolis, Indiana.

Laurie Scherrer was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s & FTD at the age of 55 and was able to continue a professional career so she turned her focus towards helping others through their dementia journey. Laurie serves on the Dementia Action Alliance Board of Directors and Advisory Board.  She is a Dementia Mentor, Purple Angel and active in many support groups. She is frequently a cohost of Alzheimer’s Speaks Radio and a panel member for Dementia Chats which highlights voices of dementia and their amazing insights.   She is an international speaker and has been featured in many articles and documentaries including New York Times, AARP, PBC, Dementia 101, South Africa Sunday Times, and the Reading Eagle.

John-Richard Pagan is living with Lewy Bodies Dementia.  He no longer fears his dementia diagnosis, in large part due to Dementia Action Alliance. Having attended the last conference, held in Atlanta, Georgia, John-Richard’s care partner Diana ended the conference with an unexpected closing as she expressed their growth in understanding, as well as in the desire to be true advocates at living better lives today with a dementia diagnosis.

Cyndy Luzinski is an advanced practice nurse and the founder and executive director of Dementia Together, a nonprofit organization in Northern Colorado which cultivates joy while building stronger connections for those living with dementia, their care partners, and the community.
