Healing by Looking Back
Our Host, Lori La Bey will be talking with Cindy Weinstein, who was a graduate student at UC Berkeley, her father, Jerry, was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. He was fifty-eight years old, and died 12 years later; unable to read, write, or speak.
So how does one deal with loss after loss, at such a young age? For decades, Cindy tried to get back to before, to come to terms with her father’s journey. Her healing begins, finally, in her new book, Finding the Right Words.
Cindy is the Eli and Edythe Broad Professor of English at the California Institute of Technology. She is the author of Time, Tense, and American Literature: When is Now?
Joining us, is Cindy’s co-author Bruce L. Miller, MD, is the A.W. and Mary Margaret Clausen Distinguished Professor in Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco, where he is the director of the Memory and Aging Center and the codirector of the Global Brain Health Institute. He is the coeditor of The Behavioral Neurology of Dementia.

All levels of artists and all types of art are welcome. Our goal is to elevate panelists work and ability to create beauty in many forms. They will share examples of various types of art they participate in, how, and why they started, what they have learned, and what they personally get out of making art. Panelists, do not have to attend all sessions.
