miles from home book cover

In honor of Henry, who died 8/3/11, I am offering Miles from Home as a free Kindle download from Aug 2nd-4th. The last few weeks of Henry’s life are central to this story about caregiving, Alzheimer’s/dementia, end-of- life, and the choices these issues involve. Laughter, tears, friendship, and love all play a part in this true story.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Colleen Lanier is a registered nurse with a private consulting firm. She looks forward to summers as a camp nurse to developmentally disabled adults and children, and is a strong believer in volunteering. She is proud aunt to six nephews and a diehard Chicago Bears fan. She lives in Florida, where she is working on her next book.

Miles from home, her debut book, is the true story of an end of life journey for one person and new beginnings for three. It is about life, death, and the choices we make when trying to the best we can in a difficult situation. It is her greatest hope that Miles from Home will start discussions with family and friends, cause people to think about what they would do in a situation such as this, and motivate people to reflect on their values and hopes for the future.

So many of us have been or will be faced with Alzheimer’s/dementia and end of life issues, and Colleen believes that discussions on death and dying, while difficult, are so very important. She hopes her book will facilitate these types of conversations.
