Alzheimer’s Disease International

joins the NCD Alliance

As dementia is moving up in the world health agenda and numbers of people with dementia are growing, we are pleased to announce that Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) has become the first new global partner to join the NCD Alliance Steering Group.

The NCD Alliance’s Steering Group is being expanded to include a broader set of voices and representation from the global NCD community.

ADI joins to provide important perspectives on mental/neurological health – an important co-morbidity of the four main NCDs. Marc Wortmann, Executive Director of ADI comments: “I am very pleased with ADI becoming a full partner of the NCD Alliance and add our expertise and network to those of the other major chronic disease federations. Despite the personal burden and economic impact of these diseases, there is still an enormous amount of work to do to make health systems more responsive to the needs, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Together our voice will be better heard.”

Cary Adams, Chair of the NCD Alliance said, “as a global federation and a respected leader in the field of NCDs and dementia, we believe ADI is an ideal partner and add significant value to the strategy and operations of the NCD Alliance.

ADI is the international federation of 79 Alzheimer associations around the world, in official relations with the World Health Organization. ADI’s vision is an improved quality of life for people with dementia and their families throughout the world. ADI believes that the key to winning the fight against dementia lies in a unique combination of global solutions and local knowledge.
