Announcing Alzheimer’s Speaks Radio™

Are you ready to tell your story?

Alzheimer’s Speaks Radio™ Show believes in giving voice to those afflicted with the memory loss and empowering them to live a purpose filled life.  Our goal is to raise awareness, give hope and share the real everyday life of living with Alzheimer’s disease.

We are getting ready to launch and setting up our schedule. If you have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and would like an opportunity to share your story with others, than I would love to talk to you. During our conversation we would discuss the possibility of doing a radio interview with you.  It makes no difference where you live as I will try to meet your time zone needs.  My goal is to bring the world together through Alzheimer’s Speaks Radio™ and that is exactly why the show will be broadcast through the internet. It is important to have international access and insight.  Alzheimer’s disease sees no barriers and neither should we.

Here’s a little information about me

My name is Lori La Bey. Memory loss has been part of my life for over 30 years, ever since my Mother starting having problems.  My Mom is now in her end stages of Alzheimer’s disease.  This journey has taught me so much and has changed my life in many positive ways.  I have even switched carers and now speak and train on Alzheimer’s disease and Caregiving.  My mission is to shift Caregiving from crisis to comfort and I would love your help in doing that.

You see, I believe we can shift society’s negative perceptions of memory loss and caregiving through open communication and education. It’s time for the voice of those affected by Alzheimer’s disease to have a platform to speak out and be heard.

Rick Phelps Founder of Memory People™ will also join me as his schedule permits as our channel expert living with Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease (EOAD).

Please feel free to pass this notice onto anyone or any organization who might be interested in it. In the mean, time feel free to go to our Alzheimer’s Speaks Radio™ Show Web Page and “Like us” or “Follow Us” http://www.blogtalkradio.com/alzheimersspeaks

  1. Hi – My name is virginia Klepczarek, I’m writing to share my experience with Alzheimer’s Disease of which I have delt with twice in my life, both of very different stages. My father was in anursing home for eleven years. He was diagnosed with brain damage from a stroke. His was out of oxygen for a long period of time and his brain shut down resulting in a coma state for ten days. The Dr. shared that he only would live a months but being the fighter that he was, my father lived for 11 years in a nursing home with Dementia. The other individuals was my brother-in-law who was in Westchester Health and Rehabilitation Center. He had diabetes, liver damage, and was a chronic alcoholic for most of his life. His diabetes was out of control resulting in him having to be placed in a nursing home. Needless to say it was a journey of anger and saddness for both men. I learned that I had to trust the facility taking care of them. Most importantly you have to educate yourself on the disease and what you can do to make their life easier and pleasant. I found it important to get involved with the Activity Department to keep both of them active and the family as well. Because of this, in time our saddness, anger, and need to maintain control disappeared. After a while, I found myself contributing and volunteering for the program to enhance the quality of life for not only my family but for the other residents as well. An environment that fosters Love and respect is the best healer in the world. Thank you for your radio shows which allow individuals to share their stories.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. You are right, it is amazing how we can improve the quality of life for those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia by engaging in activities; and bonus is finding how much it adds to our own life too! Here is the link to the Alzheimer’s Speaks Radio Show which will feature Michelle Mason and her program “Soul Purpose at Westchester Health & Rehabilitation Center.

  2. Greetings Lori:

Thank you for the forum that you have created for individuals to become educated on Alzheimer’s Disease. The stories that have been shared have truly been an inspiration to me. Currently, I’m attending Oakton Community College to become an Activity Director. I hope that I can become the advocate that you have for individuals diagnosed with the disease and their families.

  3. Lori,

I’m so excited for the upcoming radio show regarding soul purpose featuring speaker Michelle Mason. I feel that this topic will educate many listeners in the community and will allow people to handle the many situations that arise through this disease.
