One Reply to “Tips and Resources For Dementia Care”

  1. 8 years ago,six months after being diagnosed with high blood pressure and being prescribed with various drugs to lower it I suddenly began to miss appointments for the first time in my life and eventually realised that I now had vascular dementia, having lost short term memory capacity. All the members of my fathers side of the family, ruddy complexioned ,were taking pills to lower blood pressure, my father, his sister and their parents and I all on pills all living or dead with dementia..Mothers side of family, pale complexions, no pills, only one person with Alzheimers (having slightly different symptoms).I Stopped taking pills, some limited improvement and less side effects of pills .After a lifetime of meditation I have not concentrated on Fighting memory loss, which seems to have allowed other parts of brain to take over to some extent that function (tuning in to subconscious )with heightened senses and awareness. Alzheimers society UK refused to allow me on their blogs to ask if anyone else had similar experience, emailed me that A study decades ago showed that people with high blood pressure were more likely to have dementia later in life, but study did NOT trial to see what difference there might be between those who then took drugs and those who did NOT (eg jehovas witnesses)
please consider without preconceptions/beliefs, then comment discuss, share.
